Unfortunately, there are just some days/weeks where I hit a writers block wall. Or, even worse, I have a ton of ideas without any time to execute. I’ve been in class all week to get licensed in insurance, and have pretty much had zero down time. But – by the time you read this I’ll be taking my exam! So this weekend will either be celebratory or in mourning…
Most importantly, though, it’s Friday. And you know what that means.. the weekend! Duh! (And in honor of the weekend, I have a half up bun… YOLO?)
And realistically speaking, there’s nothing wrong with looking forward to the weekend. It’s a couple of days out of the week where we can actually relax and do what we want to. And if you’re lucky enough to do what you want to during the week.. Well, bravo to you! You’re living the dream.
As much as we all might love to sleep in, watch Netflix, and take mid-day baths (just me?), reality is bound to get in the way. We have to make a living. We have to go to the office and send emails. We have to go to school and study. Unfortunately, life isn’t all what we would ideally like to do.
But I do have a slight issue here I want to talk about. We shouldn’t live our lives counting down to the weekend. Life is short – and we should be enjoying every moment. When I find myself literally counting down the hours to a vacation, it really gets to me. I think everyone needs to strive to do something with their lives where (although it’s nice), they aren’t working for the weekend.
And yes – work is work. We aren’t always going to feel like working. But all of us should follow what we’re passionate about and try to do what we love. Make the most of your time. My dad always said.. Do what you love, and you never work a day in your life. And it’s true. And the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve appreciated and understood that.
Think about your hobbies and imagine doing that full time and getting paid for it. Would you complain? Maybe you wouldn’t always feel like working, but hey – you have it better than a lot of people out there.
I guess I’ve gone off on a few tangents, but Friday’s make me a little retrospective. I like to look back on my week and really consider the good and the bad. What do you love to do? Do more of it. Don’t count down to every weekend, but enjoy every moment. And be appreciative of what you are doing. Even if it’s not your ideal situating, you’re benefitting from it. Take what you can and make the most of it.
Follow your dreams, or you’ll end up working your whole life for someone who followed theirs.
Have a great weekend everyone! Please share in the comments what you love to do and what makes you happy! And let’s do more of that 🙂 Cheers to the weekend! And it’s my birthday weekend.. WOOP! TGIF yall!
