Midi Skirt

Hey y’all and happy hump day!

This week has felt like it’s gone by so. slow. I’m getting ready to move this weekend and can’t wait to finally get settled in into our new apartment. I can’t wait to share some decor photos with you all! But unfortunately the movers we’re working with aren’t guaranteeing a date yet that they’ll arrive soo.. a little frustrating? That’s an understatement!

But speaking of exciting things, my mom and I will be heading to MIAMI next weekend for Miami Swim 2017! I haven’t been to Miami since my 21st birthday and I’m incredibly excited to go back – and get a long weekend trip.

Today I’m sharing with y’all my only and favorite midi skirt. I always thought this length would look awkward on me since I’m so short – but paired with a pretty bodysuit and some nude pumps.. Love! I’d 100% recommend a midi skirt for anyone. They have such a classic and elegant shape but still look modern when styled.

Pink on Pink

Hey y’all,

This is the first time I’ve posted on a weekend in forever! Right now I’m kind of playing with the best times to post so let me know if Saturday is a day you tend to catch up on your favorite blogs.. and hopefully mine 😉

This is a beautiful dress that I’ve had forever but have never had a chance to wear. It’s not exactly work appropriate due to the low cut and high slit. I’m obsessed with a good wrap dress, though, and this is perfect for a date night or even for a pool day event as a cover up. Super versatile! I wore it this time with a black bralette peeking through and some nude heels.

Then when I stumbled upon this wall, I had to stop for photos. Talk about some classic pink on pink! Don’t you love a good statement wall? Me too.

I also have a super exciting review of a high-tech product coming up early next week. I’m finally installing it this week and I have high hopes. Be sure to follow me here so you don’t miss it.

Day to Night Outfit

Hey y’all,

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! My weekend was pretty much just full of lying in the pool and eating a lot of food – my kind of weekend. And got some good family time in! The best part is.. now there’s only a 3 day work week left.

Today I’m sharing a perfect day to night outfit! My key to taking an outfit from day to night is to simply put on a cardigan. This makes tops look more conservative for the office but still look stylish and trendy. I’m also obsessed with this choker top!

Eiffel Tower

Hey y’all,

I’m SO excited for this post today because I’m finally sharing some pictures from my latest vacation. We visited Iceland and France, and it was such an amazing experience. I’m starting with Paris, more specifically the Eiffel Tower, since it’s so iconic! I’ve always wanted to visit it since I was young and it lived up to my expectations.

If you’re planning on visiting the Eiffel Tower, there are two gorgeous views of it. Of course, getting near and under it is stunning and it’s incredibly massive. I was shocked at the size! But for a view of the entire Tower, you can walk past the Tower away from the river, sit at a cafe and drink some wine, and take in the view. On the other side of the river there are gorgeous staircases which also have an amazing view! That’s where these photos were taken.

Later this week I’ll be sharing some restaurant picks, including a rooftop one RIGHT by the Tower.

Oh, and definitely stick around at night to watch it sparkle on every hour.

Also – on a separate note – I’ve moved back to Dallas! More to come on that later.

Have a great day! Let me know in the comments if you like travel posts!

Swimsuit Wishlist

Hey y’all!

I hope you all had a wonderful, long, Memorial Day weekend! Thank you to all who have served and remembering those who lost their lives for our freedom.

I spent the weekend relaxing, going to a cookout with friends, then spending my day off by the pool! And now it’s almost the next weekend; and does anyone else think this week has gone by crazy slow?!

Speaking of the pool.. today I’m sharing my swimsuit wishlist. One of my favorite things to shop for is new swimsuits, and there are SO many cute styles out in stores these days. So here are my top picks. Happy Shopping!

Oh, and before I get started.. I’m moving back to Texas! I haven’t announced it online yet, but I’ll be heading back to the Dallas area in less than TWO WEEKS. Although I’ll miss the DC area and all of the amazing people we know here, I’m also super excited to get back down south!

And back to the swimsuit wishlist! I’ll be sharing my top few styles in the infographic, then you can shop a ton of different suits in the slider down below.

Midi Skirt

Hey y’all,

How long does it take for a bad cold to go away?! 3 days.. 3 years? (it feels like the latter)

Today I’m back with my only and FAVORITE midi skirt! I was always skeptical about midi skirts because I’m on the short side. And by on the short side, I mean very short. But I paired this one with a tank bodysuit TWICE in NYC for fashion week. That sounds gross, but I promise it’s not.. ha! I wore it out to dinner one night then for pictures the next day because I loved the way the styles mixed together. A good bodysuit is great for a short event to pair with a high waisted skirt (like this one) or some high waisted shorts or jeans.

These photos were also taken at the High Line park in NYC which is basically just an elevated park above the city. Its right on the water in the midtown/Chelsea area and I would 100% recommend. It has amazing views of the fashion district and the gorgeous waterfront and Jersey. It’s several miles long – we didn’t walk the whole thing – but it’s a gorgeous place to take a nice stroll or stop for some coffee along the way.

NYFW Outfit Diary – DUMBO

Hey y’all,

REALLY long time, no talk! I guess I just needed a break for a few weeks. And then this weekend I came down with a terrible cold/sinus infection and have been glued to the couch or bed – so it’s the perfect time to catch up on this!

But this time I’m back with another NYFW outfit diary – DUMBO edition! One of my must see spots this latest trip to new york was DUMBO – Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. You’ll have an amazing view of downtown, but you’ll still have the quaint and quiet(er) environment of Brooklyn. It has to be my favorite spot I’ve seen yet in NYC. If you’re ever there, we took the subway down and walked about 4 blocks straight towards the pier.

This dress is one of my go-to’s for layering and it’s actually a long sleeved top in xxl.. ha! I got this for a halloween costume a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorite items.

New York Fashion Week – The Trends

Hey y’all,

Today I’m back with my report from New York Fashion Week – The Trends! I’ll be talking the top 3 trends I saw for Fall 2017 at NYFW and then some picks for how you can wear the trends in normal, everyday life.

My vlog went up about a week ago and I’m so excited to finally be able to share my experience. If you have any questions about being invited, the experience, finding a hotel – ANYTHING – leave it in the comments for a post coming up!

nyfw hakan akkaya nyfw hakan akkaya nyfw hakan akkaya nyfw hakan akkaya

1. All about the angles. Sharp lines were all the rage on the runway – from tilted skirt hems to straight edge off-the-shoulder tops. And I have to say, I really like it. There are so many ways to mix angles to flatter any body shape. Go for short angles to accentuate a feature and longer angles to create a long and lean illusion. Angles can also be mixed with more feminine clothing items to mix styles and create an edgy-classic outfit.

2. Mix those materials. Leather with mesh, velvet with silk – mixing materials seemed to appear in every single outfit! This isn’t a new thought in the fashion world, but it’s back with a vengeance. It’s the perfect way to wear a monochromatic outfit but still not look one-dimensional. Mix and match items in this slider.

3. Take risks! I personally felt like all of the styles showcased on the runways were taking risks and pushing boundaries. Personally, the second day of NYFW was when I really pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and wore an outfit I would normally never wear (photographed above). But you just have to werk it! Showcase your personal style no matter what it is and you will look AMAZING! This was the time I felt the most confident and the only time I was photographed by street photographers. Obviously, other people should not make you feel validated – but it’s pretty cool, right?! 🙂 Also, another given that runway styles are going to be pushing limits, but I think it’s a great takeaway and the best inspiration for all of us in our everyday lives to own our personal styles.

I hope you enjoyed my recap of the trends from NYFW! Again – any comments about attending, getting invited, styles, ANYTHING – leave in the comments!

NYFW Style Diary – Outfit 1

Hey y’all! First of all.. Happy Valentine’s Day!

So I know I’ve mentioned it before and if you follow me on social media (which you should) you’re probably tired of me talking about it… but I went to NYFW! It was my first time to ever go, and I feel like I learned so much that will have me crazy ready for next season.

It was honestly such an amazing experience. I’ve always loved fashion shows and local fashion weeks, but going to NYFW was a whole different ball game. It was insanely hectic with tons of people trying to find their seats, check-in workers looking out for celebrities, street style photographers all along the blocks – but I loved it. I ended up going to two shows and unfortunately had to rsvp no to a lot, but I’m kind of glad I got to ease into the experience and spread out the shows so I could really enjoy it.

I have a lot of outfit posts coming up along with other NYFW posts – how to get invited, my experience, top trends I saw – so be sure you stay subscribed! I’m on bloglovin here or you can subscribe via email in my sidebar.

And now onto my NYFW style diary – outfit 1!

These photos were taken at my first show – Hakan Akkaya. I’ll have some recaps of the shows I attended coming up as well! So many posts.. so little time! And yes, I am wearing my camera bag and have my go-pro and barcode in the other hand. Space was limited.. sorry!

Bomber Jacket

Hey y’all and happy Monday!

This is going to be an INSANE week to say the least. Work has been crazy lately and I have a ton to do since it’s a short week for me. I’m off Friday and I’ll be heading to NYC bright and early for NYFW. Be sure to let me know in the comments or on social media what kind of content you’d like to see. It’s my first time at NYFW so I’m very open to suggestions!

Over the weekend I went with a friend to a local fashion event, Crystal Couture. I’ll do a whole separate post with my thoughts about the annual event, but I did want to go ahead and share my outfit from that night. It’s been FREEZING and I’m in love with this bomber jacket. It’s so warm and goes well with pretty much any outfit.
